Green - Active, visible and bookable

General description

The Maldi-tof MS is moved to the Gemeenschappelijk Instrumentarium (Wing 1, room HG01,232)

Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption - Ionisation-Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry is a technique used to identify biomolecules, among which polypeptide/proteins.

The method called MALDI, consists of pre-coupling the biomolecule to a UV-light absorbing matrix, which will absorb most of the energy upon irridiation with the nanosecond laser pulse,  and thus prevent damage like fragmentation of the biomolecule, but will still allow the transformation of the sample molecules into ionized gas.

THIS GI DEVICE IS SUPERVISED BY GI (Sebastian Krosse).

Please always start at low laser power (1%). This will keep our Maldi in perfect shape!!!!

Applications

The technician from Bruker told us that too high laser power leads to problems with the machine. So please always start at very low laser power (1%) and only increase if really necessary.
